Kristina Witter's Celebration
Nope, not a honeymoon registry. Not a bridal registry. Not a baby registry. I've never asked for funds for any of those things... because none of those things have ever happened to me. I'm not asking for funding to celebrate the 'normal stuff' - the 'big stuff' - because honestly I'm just celebrating the fact that, after all this, I'm still here! But like anyone going through those other major life events, I am in a transitional phase. I am not sure what's on the other side of this transition, but I'm excited to find out. Your donations to my travel fund will help me realize a dream I've had - a small one but one that will help me grow as a person. I'm going to hike a long section of the Appalachian Trail this September. I'll start at the Southern Terminus in Georgia with the goal of hiking 150-200 miles. I will spend up to 4 weeks in the woods camping and stopping in small towns for showers and resupply along the way. It's not cheap... and I won't be able to earn an income while I'm out there. But what I WILL earn is a sense of accomplishment (and probably some killer thighs). I will feel stronger and more confident in my ability to achieve whatever I commit myself to. I will feel more confident in my independence and ability to persevere. I will develop a stronger thirst for life and a stronger desire to see what my future holds. If I can do this, who knows what else I'm capable of?! Wanna see? NOTE: Sending $$ via Venmo (@Kris_Witter), CashApp ($KristinaWitter), or directly to me will save you nearly 10% in fees! - 5 Available0/5LodgingI'm gonna spend the majority of my evenings in a hammock between the trees but every few days I'll stop near a town for resupply and a hot shower! Maybe a Hostel, maybe a Hilton. Will have to see where the trail takes me!$85
- 25 Available0/25FuelSure, it takes fuel to get there and to be transported via shuttle between lodging sites ... but it also takes fuel just to heat water and food every day on my little cook stove!$25
- 5 Available0/5Adventure!I would like to take advantage of some of the unique experiences offered in the neighboring towns I stop along the way.$50
- 10 Available0/10MealsA girl's gotta eat! Dining on the trail can leave a lot to be desired and mainly consists of non-perishables and items you can boil or rehydrate. Fancy, right? But I'd like to eat something substantial when I get to town every few days.$25
- 5 Available0/5BrewsIt sure would be nice to indulge in a few frosty beverages after 30 miles of mountain hiking...$15
- 4 Available0/4Everything ElseDespite being your classic \"Over-Planner\", we both know I didn't think of EVERYTHING and stuff will come up I didn't plan for. #life$50
- 3 Available0/3WaterEven though my water source freely flows through the hills... the filters to ensure I can drink it without getting sick are NOT free.$25
- 4 Available0/4SuppliesI already own most of the backpacking supplies I'll need for my month in the woods like my pack, hammock, and stove, but there are a few big-ticket items I still need to pick up and many items need restocking as I go. Everything from bug spray to deodorant!$100
- 3 Available0/3PermitsSome parks require permits to traverse their trails. It helps pay for the maintenance.$40
- 10 Available0/10SupportHey, every dollar helps, right?! Thanks to everyone that's expressed their support so far!$10
